SPONSORSHIP AND PRODUCTION ART PROJECT GRANTS

A total of $37,920 was awarded in April 2002 for Sponsorship and Production project grants.  A variety of activities including dance, instrumental and vocal music, theater and visual art exhibitions were funded.  Sponsorship and Production project grants may be awarded to non-profit arts organizations, community groups or public organizations for art activities in all artistic disciplines.  Matching grants up to $2,000 are available and the next deadline is September 15, 2002.

American Composers Forum Southern MN Chapter, Mankato  $2,000.  Performance Series of new music, presented in Mankato, New Ulm and St. Peter.                        

American Guild of Organists, Sioux Trails Chapter, New Ulm - $2,000.  Six day music camp which introduced young musicians to the world of the pipe organ in June. 

City of Arlington - $1,555.  Summer community band performances in Arlington and Gaylord. 

Council for the Arts in New Ulm - $2,000.  Presentation of eleven visual art exhibitions at the Kiesling House Garden Gallery July 2002-June 2002.  The 12th Annual Juried Art Show will be presented at the Brown County Historical Society, New Ulm. 

Curtain Call Theatre, Montgomery            - $1,470.  Will present “The Sound of Music” at New Prague High School Auditorium July 12-13 & 19-21.   

DreamsWork, North Mankato - $2,000.  To provide art workshops culminating in an annual art show & sale for people with a variety of disabilities. 

Good Thunder Reading Series, MSU, Mankato -$2,000.  Will sponsor a series of author readings and residencies in 2002-2003. 

Govenaires Drum & Bugle Corps, St. Peter -$1,800.  To sponsor the 17th Annual Drum & Bugle Corps Show/Competition on July 7. 

Henderson Sesquicentennial Committee -  $1,555.  Will sponsor the 150th Anniversary Celebration featuring music and Lakota Indian interpreters producing a historic pageant in August 16-18.  

Mankato Area Arts Council  - $1,800.  Will host six educational workshops focusing on skill building and developing creativity in new mediums in different arts media for regional adult artists. 

Mankato Area Youth Symphony Orchestra - $2,000.  To sponsor the 2002-2003 youth concerts & rehearsal season.

 

Mankato Children’s Chorus            - $1,800.  To sponsor the 2002-2003 youth choral concerts & rehearsal season. 

MN Agricultural Interpretive Center, Waseca -$1,555.  Music groups will perform at four summer festivals. 

MN Over 60 Band, Gaylord - $1,800.  Performances at community events, nursing homes & parades in 2002. 

MN State University, Art Department, Mankato - $1,800.  Will host the Minnesota Community College Fine Arts Association Arts Symposium October 16. 

MN Valley Sweet Adelines, Mankato - $1,555.  Will present their annual show featuring “Northern Lights” Quartet and Region #20 First Place winners on September 14.   

Musicorum, Mankato - $565.  Presented their spring concert in May.  

Project G.E.M., Lake Crystal - $2,000.  The Growth, Experience & Motivation project will provide art and music teachers for in-class education of at-risk youth in a variety of settings in the Mankato and St. Peter area. 

Rock Bend Folk Festival, St. Peter            - $2,000.  Two-day arts and music festival held in MN Square Park, September 7-8. 

Springfield Community Theatre - $1,555.  Will produce “Fiddler on the Roof” July 13-14 & 18-19.   

Waseca Chamber of Commerce - $1,555.  Ethnic music, local dancers and hands on projects for youth at Lakefest celebration at Clear Lake Park, Waseca on July 4th.   

Waseca Community Education - $1,555.  To sponsor two children’s theater performances “The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf” July 11-13 & “Snow White” August 16-17.
