What is a Needs Assessment?

A needs assessment is a tool for organizations to determine the gaps between the services they currently offer and the needs of the communities they serve. As a state-funded organization, Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council must conduct a needs assessment every four years, and we use the information collected to inform our biennial strategic plan. 2026 Listening Tour

Throughout April and May of 2026, Prairie Lakes staff traveled around the region to visit with about 100 local artists, administrators, students, and community members. We heard about their incredible work building up our arts community and learned how we can continue to support them. The stories, statistics, and suggestions they shared will referred to throughout our strategic planning process. Thank you to everyone who shared space with us!
